নির্বাচন কমিশনার (সিইসি) এএমএম নাসির উদ্দিন বলেছেন, আসন্ন ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন হবে দেশের জন্য একটি মাইলফলক। রবিবার (৯ নভেম্বর) ইসির অফিসিয়াল ফেসবুক পেজে প্রকাশিত ভিডিও বার্তায় তিনি বলেন, সারাবিশ্ব ও দেশবাসী ভোটের প্রতি নজর রাখছে। বিশেষত প্রথমবার ভোটদানের সুযোগ পাওয়া তরুণ সমাজের আগ্রহ আশাব্যাঞ্জক।
সিইসি ভোটারদের উদ্দেশে আহ্বান জানিয়ে বলেন, “আপনার ভোট আপনার শক্তি, নিজে ভোট দিন এবং অন্যকেও উৎসাহিত করুন।” নির্বাচন কমিশনাররা এসময় সুষ্ঠু ভোট, তথ্য যাচাই, আচরণবিধি মেনে চলা এবং জেন্ডারবান্ধব ভোট প্রক্রিয়ার গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরেন।
ইসি সচিব আখতার আহমেদ জানান, ডিসেম্বরের প্রথমার্ধে তফসিল ঘোষণা করে ফেব্রুয়ারির প্রথমার্ধে ভোটগ্রহণের পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে, এবং জাতিকে একটি ভালো নির্বাচন উপহার দিতে কমিশন সকল প্রস্তুতি সম্পন্ন করছে।
